  ST. CYPRIAN'S PREPARATORY BOYS' SCHOOL

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1.         Under the leadership of Canon Gordon Hazlewood, the School was founded in 1959 to provide at moderate fees elementary education for Boys.

2.         Our present School Course is planned not only to help boys pass the Common Entrance Examination to Secondary Schools, but also to educate them culturally, spiritually and physically, so that they may become useful citizens in their community.

SCHOOL TERMS AND HOURS OF ATTENDANCE

3.         The school year is divided into three terms of about 13 weeks each.  The school week is from Monday to Friday inclusive.  The hours of attendance are from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with intervals for luncheon and recreation. N.B. All pupils must be collected from the premises by 3:00 p.m.  We do not hold ourselves responsible for any pupil who is left on the premises after this time.  Pupils remaining at the school after 3:30 p.m. will automatically go into the After Care program and fees will apply.

AGE LIMITS AND NOTICE OF REMOVAL

4.         Only boys between the ages of 3 and a half and 10 will be admitted to the School.  Except with the permission of the Headmaster no boy may remain in School after the end of the school year in which he attains the age of 12.

5.         Notice of the intention to remove a pupil must be given in writing to the Headmaster not later than Two (2) months before the end of the current term.  Failure to do so will result in the parents having to pay one term's fee in lieu of notice.

HEALTH

6.         If a pupil has contracted a contagious disease or has been in contact with a person suffering from any such disease, his parents or guardians must inform the Headmaster at once.  He will not be allowed to return to School without a doctor's certificate.

PHYSICAL EXERCISE

7.         Since exercise is essential to good health, no pupil will be excused from games without a written excuse signed by his parents or guardian.

EXCUSE FOR ABSENCE

8.         Any pupil who has been absent must on his return to School bring a letter from his parents or guardian in explanation of his absence.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

9.         All pupils must wear the correct School Uniform.  This contains of khaki shirt and pants, long khaki socks and brown or black shoes.  At all times the dress code must be adhered to.

SCHOOL FEES

10.        School Fees must be paid in advance to the Royal Bank of Canada.  In the event that fees are not paid within the first week of the term, the receipt must be brought to the School to be signed.

11.        Parents and guardians are asked to co-operate with the Staff of this School in observing the above Rules.

Regulations

St. Cyprian's Preparatory Boy's School operates as a non-profit organization.  The Board of Directors reviews the level of fees applicable annually to ensure that the income covers operating expenses.

Commencing September 2010 the following fees and levies will apply.

New Students

•·         A non-refundable processing and application fee of $350.00 for each student interviewed.

•·         A one-time capital levy of $650.00 for each new enrolled student will be charged. This levy is non refundable and must be paid on acceptance. (This fee is to assist with the ongoing repairs and replacement of furniture and equipment).

•·         Fees for all new students must be paid in advance.

•·         Parents are encouraged to take out Liability Insurance for students. The cost of insurance is $20.00 per year or $80.00 for five years.  Applications forms are available at the school but payment must be made directly to the insurance company.  This insurance covers incidents where one child injures another or is himself injured by another student.

         

Existing Students

Effective September 2010 Tuition will be $1,100.00 per term. A discount of $100.00 will be allowed to parents with two or more children in the School. Parents of students already in school are encouraged to take up insurance to cover incidences (in the case of a student being injured by another student) if one student injures another and the school is not deemed liable. The cost of this insurance is $20.00 per year and must be paid directly to the Insurers.

Forms are available at the school. Students not returning to school must give a minimum of one term's notice or must pay a term's fee in lieu of notice.

General:

There is a cafeteria at the school which is operated by an independent contractor.

Swimming classes are done at the Wildey Gymnasium.  The school pays for these classes.  Students must cover the transportation cost.

There is an all boys choir which is conducted by a professional musician.

Taekwondo classes are conducted as an after school program by an independent contractor.

School hours:  School commences at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Students must be picked up by 3:30 p.m. unless they are engaged in a supervised activity.  

After care services are provided for a fee. These services close at 5.15 p.m.
